Usually you want to download the source distribution with the highest version number and NOT genometools-unstable.tar.gz.

genometools-unstable.tar.gz is a snapshot of the development repository that has not always been fully tested.
So it may contain bugs which are not present in the releases with a proper version number!

Binary distributions for various platforms can be found in the binary_distributions directory.

Untested nightly builds of the current development snapshot can be found in the nigthly_builds directory.
